How can museums attract and keep new visitors without upsetting
the old ones?
Heather Maitland will look at how a range of UK museums successfully
define and reach new target markets while retaining existing
visitors. She’ll explore whether it is necessary to be
market-led to significantly increase the number and range of
visitors to museums. |

Should museums market their collection or create an experience?
This practical session will look how two UK museums successfully
adapt their collections to meet the needs of different kinds
of visitor, exploring the difference between the core product
and the visitor experience. We’ll take a look at a less
successful museum and discuss what approach you would take to
matching its products to its target groups. |
